NCS battle of the books participants in their Great Maine Book Battle t-shirts

Bookworms battled in the 2023 Great Maine Book Tournament at Lincoln Academy on Jan. 30, with Nobleboro Central School students winning third place among AOS 93 schools.

For three months, the NCS team of seven fifth-graders, a seventh-grader and an eighth-grader met weekly, reading all 15 books required, and practiced for the tourney. They competed against neighboring schools, then celebrated with a pizza party in the LA Library. Students received free T-shirts and books, along with bragging rights.

South Bristol School won the tournament with Great Salt Bay School and NCS close behind. A special thanks to Lincoln Academy Librarian Laura Phelps, her library aides, and the AOS 93 librarians for hosting and coordinating the event.
