Dear NCS Families,
We are pleased to announce the official launch of a Zero to School initiative in Nobleboro with coordination from Jessica Berry - founder of the Midcoast Community Collaborative. The goal of this grant-funded partnership is to engage families with children in Nobleboro aged 0-4. The initiative includes:
Hosting fun events at the school for families (e.g., playgroups, ice cream social)
Planning informational sessions
Collecting data for the school
Hosting follow-up events to build relationships and provide resources for families and children.
Creating a parent/caregiver group
Conducting developmental screenings to assess children's needs
Supporting families with resources like clothing, heat, and other essentials for childcare.
We are just the second school in the state partnering with Zero to School. If you’d like more information about this initiative, please feel free to reach out. I am very excited to be able to put this in place for Nobleboro families as I am sure it will work to build community and lead to positive outcomes for all our students.
Sincerely,
Adam Bullard
Continuing their studies on how childhood/adolescence has changed in Maine since Wabanaki times, seventh graders visited the Maine MILL Museum in Lewiston. While there, students learned about mill work in Maine during the late 18th century, more specifically the use of child labor in mill work during this time.
Mrs. York hosted her annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament before break. Interested 6th-8th graders formed co-ed teams and hit the court in hopes of claiming the coveted title of "3-on-3 Champions." Congratulations to team Triple T (Talia & Tyson Brown and Trenton Friant) for their outstanding teamwork and victory. GO LIONS!!
