Dear NCS Families,
Applefest and Open House
The acorns are dropping and there is a slight chill in the air. Fall is here, and with that so too are two special community events at NCS. Happening on Saturday and organized by the Nobleboro Historical Society, Applefest is a community celebration where people gather to catch up, listen to live music, purchase local crafts, eat some delicious food, raise money for the 8th grade, and have fun all right here in our school. Open House is another important annual event where families are invited to visit the school and connect with staff. Open House will take place on October 10th from 5:30-6:15pm. We hope to see you here!
Best,
Adam Bullard
It's been another busy and fun filled week here at NCS.
Kindergartners took advantage of the beautiful fall weather we've been having, taking their first field trip of the year last week. Students enjoyed picking (and eating) apples at nearby Biscay Orchards.
The soccer team cruised to Vinalhaven on Monday for an exciting game. Trips to the islands are always a highlight for our student-athletes. This coming week, the Lions will face off in a scrimmage against Bristol and head to Jefferson for their final regular game of the season before hosting a first-round playoff game against South Bristol on Thursday. GO LIONS!!!!
Our second graders are off to a great start this year, earning their first of many class rewards. Their choice of reward? "Bring Your Favorite Stuffed Animal to School Day," of course. Students spent the day with their stuffies in tow, reading, writing, and playing at recess with them.
Over the last several weeks, NCS 7th graders have been spending time working on a replica Wabanaki wigwam as part of their Wabanaki unit in Social Studies. All of the students got involved in one way or another, from removing bark from saplings to helping clear the area for the wigwam, and many really shone in this hands-on environment! Thanks to Jeff and Louise Miller of the Lincoln County Historical Association for lending their expertise and tools, and for providing the students with some great background information on everything from wigwam building to birchbark etching to Wabanaki tools.
