NCS Spring Concert
Last evening, the NCS community gathered for our annual Spring Concert. As always, this was an emotionally uplifting and entertaining event. The students put forth their absolute best efforts whether singing, playing an instrument, or working behind the scenes to make it all happen. Of course, none of this would be possible without the hard work and unyielding spirit of our music teacher, Sarah Plummer. She makes it look easy, but I can assure you it is not. We are so fortunate to have her, as well as our new art teacher, Olivia Richmond, to provide authentic platforms for our students to shine outside the traditional classroom setting. Much can be learned and gained from performing in front of your peers and community.
Personally, the concert held great significance for me as well since the school band dedicated the Star Wars theme to me as the last song. I tend to lean in to my Star Wars nerdiness, so it was incredibly heartwarming to be recognized by our talented middle level musicians, all of whom I respect and admire immensely.
Best,
Adam Bullard
The 8th Grade Outing Club trip last weekend was a huge success and full of fun. Students and their chaperones paddled from the Rockwood Town Landing across Moosehead Lake to Kineo Island, setting up camp at Hardscrabble Point. While on the island they traveled the trail system, making a complete loop of the island including a hike to the summit of Mount Kineo itself, and climbing to the top of the unique open top fire tower.
With their days of roaming the halls of NCS coming to an end, it was yet another great example of what it means to be a Lion, and a wonderful bonding experience they won't soon forget.
In preparation of their upcoming field trip to Pemaquid Beach kindergartners spent time this week learning about the different types of sea life they might find while roaming beach.
CAL students were treated to a well deserved sailing excursion on Tuesday courtesy of The Apprenticeshop. These students spent many hours in their workshop this winter building toboggans for the National Race, and more importantly building relationships. A huge thank you goes out to Joao and his crew!
We can't help it! We already have next year on our minds. Call us crazy but we just couldn't wait to meet our newest Lions. So on Monday, we welcomed our soon to be Kindergartners for Library time with Mrs. Harriman and a bus ride with Ms. Kim. Looks like they are just as excited as we are to have them here in the fall.
