Third , fourth and fifth grade had a great visit with Coastal Rivers on Wednesday learning about fish migration, and then enjoyed a trip to the Damariscotta Fish Ladder to see the alewives run.
One of our favorite specials here at NCS is library time. Who could blame us? Mrs. Harriman always has the best books and activities for the students. This week was no exception as 1st Graders were introduced to "CHALK", a wonderful picture book about 3 children who find a bag of chalk at a playground and the chaos that ensues after their chalk drawings come to life.
Word of the story must have spread fast, as students tried their hand at creating their own chalk art while out at recess.
Our lucky kindergartners hit the jackpot, visiting the library twice a week.
They started the week off hearing the read aloud "The Paper Bag Princess", making their own princess puppets from paper bags.
They then tried their hand at making paper wolf puppets after enjoying the story of “The Wolf, the Duck & the Mouse” on Wednesday. Great job Kindergarten!
Big kids love their time in the library too! Fourth-graders had a blast recreating illustrations from “What the Dinosaurs Did at School” after listening to the read-aloud.
Seventh and eighth grade students spent the last 4 Fridays exploring the many different types of exercise thanks to Mrs. York and the Damariscotta YMCA. As part of their PE curriculum students enjoyed use of the fitness center learning about strength and cardio training, took boxing classes, and even tried their luck on the ninja obstacle course.
