Dear NCS Families,
After-school activities play a crucial role in the development of young people. These activities provide opportunities for social interaction, skill-building, and personal growth outside the traditional classroom setting. Engaging in extracurriculars such as sports, arts, clubs, or community service helps students discover their interests, talents, and passions. Additionally, they learn valuable life skills like teamwork, time management, and leadership, which are essential for success in life. Research is also clear that participating in structured after-school programs reduces the likelihood of negative risk-taking behaviors.
For these reasons and more, NCS has looked to increase the number of free after school activities offered to our students. Which is why I am excited to announce the creation of a brand new afterschool program: Open Studios, hosted by our fabulous new art teacher - Olivia Richmond.
This is just one of the programs we are looking to add or expand in the future. We were fortunate this year to receive a grant to make this new afterschool art program possible - as well as add to our Outing Club and Sewing Club experiences. I have requested additional funds in next year’s budget so that we don’t have to rely on grants as I believe these afterschool programs are foundational to our work with students and the mission of Nobleboro Central School.
Sincerely,
Adam Bullard
