Dear NCS Families,
Fire Alarms
Regular fire drills are essential to prepare students and staff for emergencies and to ensure a quick and safe response in the event of a real fire. When the fire alarm is pulled for the drill, everyone in the school is expected to treat these drills as if they were a real emergency and to follow our fire drill procedures. So far after two drills, our students have proven to be safe and respectful of this important practice. We are also planning our annual evacuation drill with the Nobleboro Fire Department sometime this Fall or Spring.
It Takes A Village
At the end of next week, we will have 3 Educational Technician positions open at NCS. Most schools in Maine are facing staffing shortages and as amazing a school as NCS is, we are still not immune to the challenge. If you are wondering what it would be like to work in education and have an interest in taking on a very important role in our school, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or Robyn in the office. Feel free to spread the word about our openings. These positions are listed on servingschools.com, but word of mouth recruitment from caring community members is perhaps even more productive.
Best,
Adam Bullard
Things got a little spooky at NCS in the days leading up to Halloween - students dared not enter the Library for fear of the Creepy Carrots!!!
Kindergartners read The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything, and made scarecrows
Halloween Day, also known as Pumpkin Day here at NCS was full of fun activities for students in grades K-4
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!! The Gaga Pit build is tomorrow, Saturday at 9am. Feel free to stop by and lend a hand! A huge thank you goes out to NC Hunt Lumber for the donation of lumber, Darren York for constructing the walls of the pit, and the PTO for purchasing the materials necessary to cover the surface area. This is sure to be a kid favorite at recess!
Picture Retake Day is Monday, November 13th! Families requesting retakes please be sure to bring in your original photo packets.
We are happy to announce the return of our Thanksgiving Feast!!! Families of K-4 students are invited to join us on Friday, November 17th. More information to follow next week.
A friendly word from the nurse:
It's that time of Year! Kids are coughing, sneezing, complaining of sore throats, and frequently requesting cough drops. If your child develops these symptoms and you feel require suppressants, please write a note to the nurse and send cough drops in for your child. Keep in mind cough drops can often mask symptoms of illness that should be assessed by a health professional. Do not hesitate to call the Health Office to discuss your child's symptoms, existing treatments, and concerns. The use of cough drops at the elementary level will be determined on a case-by-case basis due to choking hazards.
