Dear NCS Families,
Applefest and Open House
The acorns are dropping, the leaves are beginning to change color and there is a slight chill in the air. Fall is here, and with that so too are two special community events at NCS. Happening on Saturday and organized by the Nobleboro Historical Society, Applefest is a community celebration where people gather to catch up, listen to live music, purchase local crafts, eat some delicious food, raise money for the 8th grade, and have fun all right here in our school. Open House is another important annual event where families are invited to visit the school and connect with staff. We hope to see you here!
Fall Assessments
As we head into October, students will be asked to participate in a wide range of assessments to help us learn more about them as learners. Some of these assessments are mandated at the state level, some at the district level, and some at the school level. Whatever the assessment, please know that these are all just snapshots in time. At NCS, we look at the whole child to describe growth and progress; assessments are but one measure. That said, we communicate to students to do their best on these assessments so that we have the most accurate snapshot. To help them do their best, please make sure students are getting enough sleep, eating a healthy breakfast, drinking water, and arriving at school on time.
Bus Routes
Thank you for your patience as we work out our new bus dismissal procedures. Because of the large number of students on bus #42, we had split the run in two. The result has been more space to spread out students and improved behavior, but also a shift in times that students may be arriving at their destinations.
Best,
Adam Bullard
