Dear NCS Families,

Arrival & Dismissal

After much problem solving with staff, I am pleased to announce that we have reduced our arrival and dismissal procedures down to between 10 and 12 minutes daily.  Student safety has not been impacted, but the time that families are waiting in the circle and on the road has decreased considerably.  Thank you for being cautious drivers and for following staff directions.  For reference, here is the section from our Family Handbook concerning arrival and dismissal.

Student Arrival

Students who arrive at school by bus will be dropped off at 7:55am from the lower parking lot.

Cars may line up on the circle or park in a spot to wait for arrival in the mornings if necessary, but the school will not open until 7:55. Please have your child exit from the passenger side of the vehicle onto the sidewalk for greatest safety.  Please pull over to the parking spaces off to the side if your child is in need of support exiting the vehicle.  This allows for other parents to leave the traffic circle more quickly.

At 7:55am, all students will be allowed into the building to grab a breakfast if desired and head to classrooms.  We ask that parents not enter the building unless there is a scheduled meeting or for other special circumstances.  This makes for a smoother and safer transition into the school day for all students.

Student Dismissal

The lower lot will be used for bus dismissal.  Students will be called to the buses based on their grade level. The upper lot will be used for car dismissal.  Parents and guardians  are to pull into the traffic circle and wait for school staff to notify the classroom teachers of their arrival.  The student will then be dismissed by the classroom teacher.  While leaving with your child, please make sure to be extra cautious of other vehicles and pedestrians.

Economic Status Form

Thank you for continuing to send in the Economic Status Forms.  The data collected by this form helps our school secure federal funding that supports various educational initiatives and resources within our school.  Please note that all information provided on the form is confidential and is used solely for the purpose of determining our school’s overall eligibility rate.  We would be thrilled to hit 100% completion by the end of September!  As of Friday, we are at about 50%.
